Is It Depression … Or Just Loneliness?

Updated: Jan 5, 2020

I am going to keep this post short and sweet. I cannot tell you how many times I see medications being given to people who believe they are depressed but they are only lonely. They have created walls between themselves and others in the world, find themselves isolated and feeling “sad” or “depressed”…or sometimes it manifests as anger. This often leads to self-destructive behaviors. They go looking for a pill to change their mood but it does not work because it’s not a magical pill that is needed, but healthy connections to others. For many of these individuals they simply did not learn how to be in healthy relationships with other people or how to communicate and interact in a positive healthy way. This lack of knowledge can be the source of so much loneliness in the world.

I am just going to leave you with this one idea to ponder today.
